February Once Upon a Sketch
THINGS HAPPEN.........
So here I was sitting at my desk ahead of my creative schedule, super happy with my progress, listening to some awesome tunes when the layout for this month's February Once Upon a Sketch challenge was complete!
Woohoo I scream 1 down 100 more projects to go!!!!
AND THEN!!!!!!!....my creative mind just couldn't put it to rest so I decide to grab my Lindy's bottle ( black of all colours) and decide it needs just one little detail to make this layout complete and then this happens.........
YES..and entire bottle of Toto's Tornado black on my finished layout....and the floor
After a good cry and a bit of encouragement from some of my crafty friends I decide to pull it out of the trash can and revive it. What you can't see is that as I lifted the layout paint went everywhere and punctured a hole in the paper completely so there was some serious surgery to be done.....
I slapped on my gloves and gave this layout a bit of CPR
Is this my favorite layout?! NO!! but when life gives you lemons you make lemonade!!
A little Lindy's Glitter, stencils, gesso, Prima flowers and washi tape was all it needed to bring this page back to life ;). What you can't see like a good surgeon I am is the incredible stitch work where the page ripped underneath all that gesso ;).
Here is a couple more close ups
Now it's your turn to create a masterpiece.... as you can tell by this story I share is that it really doesn't matter how perfect your project is you can still put it out there for others to enjoy. There really isn't such thing as perfection anyway so give yourself some freedom to make mistakes and enjoy the creative process.
We can't wait to see your incredible submissions!!
Limor Webber

ReplyDeleteWell, in the end … what a happy accident! It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeletePossitive thinking you repaired it! It happened to me before, and all the messy scrappers with me I think. But I did cut it up and used it as background paper in my art journal. You must have had a beautiful silver shimmer from the tornado black :). I like the page, drama going on!
ReplyDeleteLimor, I have to say I saw this page before I heard the story. I thought then and not, "It is gorgeous!" Your lemonade taste very sweet to me!

Love the end result, the black splots look amazing!
ReplyDeleteI needed to see this! I started out with a Valentine gift and it did not evolve as visioned. LOL My lesson - you are not Van Gogh yet - start out with a plan!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLimor, When I saw that big black spot I just new you could save it, it was just in the perfect spot for all your beautiful flowers and other embellishment, Like the great painter you only make Happy Mistakes, or something like that, :) I love the finished page.
