Neon Graffiti Love You Card by Tonya Gibbs

Well hello again, my crafty friends.  Are you ready to get INKY?   I just got the new Lindy's Stamp Gang Limor Webber Designs Neon Graffiti in the mail last weekend. Let me tell you - IT IS SO VIBRANT and fun!  I don't think I'll ever get the pink and purple out of my nails (LOL)!
 
 
 
I had a few nieces turn 10 this week. I thought this would be a great opportunity to play around with these fabulous new colors and create something with an edgy pop culture feel!

These fantastic colors come in Flat Fabio (No shimmer) Sprays, Color Shots, Magicals and Embossing Powders.  In this set you will get your poppy/edgy warm colors with a true white and true black!   HOW EXCITIG.   When I say vibrant I MEAN IT! Intense pigment colors here - that's for sure!  
 

 
Of course my mind went immediately to Limor's Splattered Heart stamp from IndigoBlu.  It makes the perfect Graffiti graphic for my card design.   I used a Versa ink pad to stamp the image onto my watercolor paper, then used Lindy's Midnight Pewter embossing powder to create a resist.  I used this embossing powder instead of the one in the set, because I wanted it to have a little shimmer.   The one in the set is Flat.

In the video I  also shared my hand drawn Graffiti type.  If you are unsure about drawing these, you could always  cut block letters from a die cutting machine and layer them. I created this card as an A2 top folding card.  Here are the measurements for each panel.
 
watercolor paper - Cut to  3 3/4 inches x 5 inches (this is the panel with the art)
hot pink cardstock frame  - Cut to 4 inches x 5 1/4 inches
black cardstock -   4 1/4 inch x 11 inches  scored at 5 1/2 inches
 
 
 
 
This card is so FUN!  Next week I will share with you a project using the Magicals from this collection.

My Father's World Mixed Media Tag Tutorial by Tonya Gibbs

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great week, looking forward to the weekend.  Autumn is in full swing here, so I wanted to create a mixed media tag tutorial to help kick start my brain into thinking about cooler days and forget these past few "Dog Days of Summer".




I found a hymnal page in my scraps that had the title "This is My Father's World"  and part of the song said "nature sings" & "morning light" so I used this as inspiration for my tag.  

I had used this hymnal page in another project so pieces of it were missing.  I was careful to reserve back the pieces that I wanted to focus on and used the rest of the scraps to line the base of the tag.   To give my cut outs more stability I backed them on scraps of watercolor paper.
 
 



When I think of nature singing at Morning light I always  think of birds.   So I knew I wanted to incorporate a bird.  I used the Prima Shabby Chic Resin birds.   I have a window in my bedroom, and a little bird is ALWAYS in the window singing.   So I thought about using another Prima Resin piece in the shape of a window.  Since both were really too bright white,  I decided to paint them with my Lindy's Stamp Gang.   You can see in the video below how I did this.



I also wanted to keep with the texture and colors of fall.   So I used the Burlap stencil from Tim Holtz, and some white Crackle Texture Paste from Prima, along with Gelatos® in fall colors of Yellow, Orange and Red to create the background.  A little Lindy's Ponderosa Pine Olive Magicals was added to finish off the crackled and rich tones of fall.  To add a bit of sparkle, I used some Mica Flakes from Prima. They offered just the right touch of reflective light to my base.



I decided to build my floral spray like a bird's nest.  I kept the flowers somewhat neutral (like the twigs in a nest) by spraying them with the Lindy's in several different colors.  To give them a pop of orange I finished them off with a little of the Copper Magicals found in the Lindy's Autumn collection.

I love how vibrant this tag is and it really sparkles!  Fall is my favorite time of year. Everything is so rich with pops of color and texture.

Watercolor Card Tutorial by Tonya Gibbs

Hi everyone, I have a fun card tutorial for you today using the Stamper's Big Brush Artist Pens from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.   This is a super simple card design that took about an hour to create. 





Today, I'm going to use these products, which are linked up to the store at the bottom of this post. 



You commonly see Stamper's Big Brush Artist Pens used in Mixed Media projects to add rich color and deep shadows. They are popular because they are created with India Ink. Which means when they are added to a prepped surface they are completely blendable, and they dry permanent. They typically write smoothly over artist mediums.  It is really fun to add shading, shadows, and highlights with these pens.  They come in 2 different styles, the larger pens are called "Big Brush" and they also come in a smaller size. Both styles have brush pen nibs so it makes coloring with them a cinch. Either version of these pens will work for this technique.



I want to share with you a way to use them as watercolors.  When you pick up the color of these markers with a moistened paintbrush, it slows down their drying time and gives you time to spread the pigment like a watercolor.   Look at the gorgeous detail provided with just a few colors. An Aquarelle, watercolor pencil was used to add sharp details to the greenery.


I have recently fallen in love with hand lettering.  I just love the personal touch it gives to my cards.  I used the Artist Essential Pens to add a sentiment to the inside of my card.  If you aren't comfortable with this step, you could always add a stamped sentiment.




I have prepared a process video of me sharing with you the techniques used to create this card.  The measurements for my finished card are as follows:
  • Card Base -  4.25 inches x 11 inches folded at 5.5 inches for a top folding card. 
  • White border & Inside White Panel  -  4 inches x 5.25 inches
  • Flower painting - 3.75 inches x 5 inches  (Watercolor Paper)

Father's Day Card by Tonya Gibbs

Hi everyone, Tonya here today - with Father's Day around the corner, I thought it would be fun to create a mixed media card for my Dad using some of the awesome products from Limor Webber Designs.    Today's feature is going to be Limor's Industrial Chic Collection from Lindy's Stamp Gang, and her new stamps from IndigoBlu - A6 Splattered  Heart Stamp, and the Limor Circles.  All of the products will be linked up at the end of this post for your convenience.

In today's Post we are going to use the Rusty Lantern Lime, and Time Travel Teal.

Grunge is always a great way to start out a masculine card.  So I decided to stamp the
A6 Splatter Heart Stamp with Versa Ink and heat emboss it in white.  The white will stand out against the darker elements on my card, and the melted embossing powder will give the card texture, and resist the liquid sprays. 




Just look at all the yummy texture!     I used the IndigoBlu Limor's Circles Stamp with the screen pattern to add additional interest to my card backing and embellishments.    Tim Holtz' Ephemera Pack - Expedition is where I found the "Special Delivery Sign" and the pointing finger.    



I have been inspired by Sherry's previous posts to use my Magicals from Lindy's Stamp Gang.  On the clock you can see where I used the "Coco Bean Copper" Magicals with Gel Medium from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® to create a thick paste.  Then dabbed it onto the Prima Wood Veneer Clock Face to make it look like corroded metal.  LOVE this effect.   Thanks Sherry for the Inspiration.  

No project is complete without splatters of black ink, right?  So I used a long bristled liner brush with India Ink  to add them, and to write the word DAD.

And here is a glimpse at my finished card. Isn't it amazingly grungy?  I think my hands may be permanently stained with Lindy's Stamp Gang -  but that's all part of the fun!

Hi everyone! The other day I shared on Instagram  that this amazing Happy Mail was delivered and I couldn’t wait to get my fingers inky! These collections are the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Limor Webber Designs On the Boardwalk, and Tres Chic lines in Flat Fabios, Sprays, Shots, and Embossing Powders.  Aren’t they gorgeous? I mean seriously these colors scream spring, and happy all in one luscious package!


For those of you unfamiliar with Flat Fabios – these are sprays with only pigment – no shimmer.    The embossing powders are soft and have a opalescent shimmer to them.  This gives them a soft iridescent look that is subtitle but gorgeous!

While snooping around my Facebook gallery, I found this picture of  my sweet niece, Addie, on her 3rd Birthday.   The colors in the photograph matched my new Lindy’s Stamp Gang Collection so well that I decided to create a unique background for my layout design using my new Lindy’s with The Crafter’s Workshop Mini Harlequin and Mini Gothic Romance stencils.

Look at all this yummy texture, and the colors are so girly, with a hint of grunge. Today I would like to walk you through the process of creating custom backgrounds for your layouts in the process video below.  I’m also going to share how to take a collection of random items and make them all work together to create a gorgeous embellishment cluster.  Doodling on your layouts helps to create a whimsical look and feel.  I recommend using the Pilot Perma Ball Journaling Pen
that Limor has in the store.
