Journal page with Gelatos® by Vicky

11
Hi crafty friends! Vicky here and today I am sharing another page of my mixed media journal.

I have already shared the other two pages here and here of my mixed media journal, and they are all flower themed. So here is another page with lovely flowers today.

For this page I have used exclusively Gelatos® by Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® as a coloring medium, both for the background and the flowers. You can easily replicate this page by using any flower stamp you have in your stash.

I just love how easy Gelatos® are to blend and you can make colorful and striking backgrounds effortless and within minutes. There are many techniques to blend them, with your fingers (best of all), with a baby wipe (for a paler look), by spraying water over them, with a brush... the possibilities are endless.  I do demonstrate most of them in the video below.

To color the flowers and the leaves I did some cheating ;) Instead of coloring/blending directly on the page I stamped them on another piece of paper and then colored and cut them out with my scissors. Then, all I had to do was a little bit of paper piecing. A technique that adds dimension on your page while keeping everything clean at the same time.

To finish off my page I did a little stencil with my favorite Whipped Spackle by Faber - Castell. I love this product because it adds dimension and brightness and it is so thick that you can never have any accidents through stencils. Works perfect every time and you can even color it with gelatos. I can not recommend this product enough!

You can enjoy the video below where I am going to walk you through all the steps of creating this page.

Crazy Art Jounal Flamingo in love... with video today!

6
Helloooo!

Thank you very much for your comments on the last post, and thank you for following this wonderful blog.

Today I am bringing you another art journal page with lots of texture. This time a little bit funny for you, because I have a video and you could laugh at me!!! (but a little bit).

First of all, I'm going to show you some pictures with the details that I think could be useful.

I didn't put the grass perfectly with the mask, so I used a pencil and marked details in the stalk and leaves.

To integrate the printed flamingo into the background, I used my finger to apply paint and gesso to get a gradated blue teal colour, and hide the edges of the printed paper.

You can easily stick the wire heart to the background with 3D Gel Medium.   Here it looks milky but it will dry clear.

To paint the heart, open the color bloom bottle and put the color in the center of the heart. Then mix it  with 3D gel medium mate to create a different effect.

I like doodles with pencils. Maybe it seems more messy, but I love it! It's so shabby and real.  Here is a detail picture of the texture.

And here are the videos:

Textures Are Key by Silvia Santoyo

16
Hi everybody! Silvia Santoyo here from Madrid (Spain). I'm so so excited to be a part of this team and finally post. I'm so thankfull to Limor for this opportunity. Thank You, and thank you all for visiting this great blog!

July is my month. A month full of colour, happiness and light! So let's start!

In my first post, I would like to keep my attention to texture. I love to experiment with different materials, and try different ways to combine them to achieve surprising results. In my opinion, textures are key in my art jounals!

I started with a background of painter's tape (or masking tape), gesso and Gelatos®. I also adhered pieces of plastic net that I found in the DIY section in the supermarket.

Next, I used water to active the Gelatos® and small spurts of Lindy's Stamp Gang. These liquids help  to move the color all over the background.

Once the background was dried, I added wide washi tape in a few areas.

Then add a layer of acrylic paint and modeling paste with other mask. For contrast, I added a little stamping with black ink.

I decided to add my photo by cutting it into pieces.  This is an artistic way of expressing the sad feeling kind of like the old saying "broken into pieces" of course not literally ;).

To add more color I used my Gelatos® over a few areas. I also added stickles over the word Pretty to give it more weight.

Then I outlined some of the elements with a pencil.   This helps to bring out the details and offers a nice shadow or border to the things that I want to bring forward in my composition.

Here are some detailed photos to show you how the pencil outlined around the text helps to give it depth.

See the wonderful texture  with the modeling paste and netting? Even the waxy feeling of the Gelatos® gives texture to the page.

I invite you to visit my blog www.silviasantoyo.com,  and in my next post, I promise a video!

Greetings!

Mixed Media Journal Page - Techniques with Gelatos

17

Hi ! It's Vicky here today and I am happy to share a page of my mixed media journal.

Today's post will feature Limor's Signature Lines from IngoBlu and Lindy's Stamp Gang:

IndigoBlu Stamps designed by Limor - Rugged Edges Stamp

I have started this journal a while back and I want to turn it into a flower themed one. So each page will feature flowers as the focal point. This journal is the Mixed Media Mini Journal Boards  by Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®   I love the pages on this journal, because they are nice and thick. They are actually chipboard pages that can take mediums, water or heat with no problem!

The background, all the shading and the coloring of the flowers was done using gelatos. In the how-to video below you will see how easy they are to use and blend. I am also sharing a great technique for shading your focal elements.

Shading is vital if you want your images to pop. I love the vibrant background in this layout and you will be surprised to find out how easy it is to make. I have also used one stamp from the "Rugged Edge" set by Limor Webber to do some embossing on the edges. This really frames my art.

You can watch a step by step video tutorial on how I made this page below:

Thank you all for visiting today! Have a great and creative day :)

Lotus Tag by Zoey

4

Hello everyone!

Zoey's here and today we will create together a very special TAG!

I always loved this quote, "May you exist like the Lotus, at ease in muddy water", since my first yoga less. Yes, Yes, I know, Yoga is more than just a pretty quote...but since I started doing yoga I also started reading quotes about yoga, I am so a stereotype! LOL.

Anyway, the brand new stamp collection by Limor Webber Designs and IndigoBlu : "Lotus" Limor Webber Designs Stamps by IndigoBlu was simply perfect! I love how detailed this stamp is.

As always the base of my projects are upcycled cardboard, so I cut this into a tag shape, and using a brayer, I applied Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gesso. I left some spot without Gesso because I wasn't trying to cover the entire piece, I was just going to add texture.

I randomly cut a few pieces of paper from an old German dictionary and some scraps from Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap and using Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gel Medium I adhered these pieces to the background, overlapping some. Then with a baby wipe I added some more Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gesso

I colored the background with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gelatos (Pistachio and Cinnamon) and I also added some texture through the stencil "Crafter's Workshop 6x6 Stencil Mini Sketch Grid". After heat setting the modeling paste, I stamped the "Lotus" Limor Webber Designs Stamps by IndigoBlu with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Stamper's Big Brush Pen Chrome Green

With Lindy's Stamp Gang "Industrial Chic" Magicals by Limor Webber Designs I highlighted the texture I created with the modeling paste.

I stamped the "Lotus" Limor Webber Designs Stamps by IndigoBlu, two times over a piece of Manila Cardstock. The first one I left it whole, the second one, I cut all the petals and then adhered to the first stamped image using foam adhesive. To add some color and shine I used again Lindy's Stamp Gang "Industrial Chic" Magicals by Limor Webber Designs.

All that was left to do was to write the quote, and cut it out in smaller pieces and adhered them to the tag. I also added some stamps in the background using "Rugged Edge Stamp" Limor Webber Design stamp by IndigoBlu and some black ink drips with Liquitex Professional Acrylic Ink - Carbon Black.

Here are some photos showing details of the project...

And here's the whole project...

What do you think about it? I hope you will like it! I had so much fun playing with all these great products that you can easily find in Limor’s Store. See below the complete list of materials I have used!

Stay happy, stay creative…till next time!
